HEALTH UPDATE
Just to clarify the boys health issues. Several months ago Easton started to have digestive problems, ie: diarrheah. He had it off and on in severity for 8 weeks. I finally took him to a specialist and we did a bunch of blood and stool tests and we think he has the disease that alot of the Ferrin family has called Celiac Sprue. It is a deficiancy in the digestion of wheat protiens and anything derived from it like gluten. Which is all types of flour and breads that come from wheat. So, we have completely changed his diet and he is better but we still have to take him into get a biopsy of his small intestine in Feb. to make sure that is what it is. He will be put to sleep, but it will be an out-patient proceedure.
I discovered a strange bulge or tumor, cyst looking thing on Isaac's genitals 2 months ago and we have learned that he has the beginnings of a hernia. This is when there is an opening in the lining of the intestines and tissue and fluid leak out down to the genitals. Isaac's is only fuid now, so next Thursday we take him in for surgery. He will be put to sleep also and they will drain the fluid and sew up the whole. It is also out-patient.
We feel so blessed that neither of these are too major. I am a little nervouse about the putting too sleep because I have been there and it feels wierd to come and out and it will be wierd to see my children like that. Also, it is always a risk to be put to sleep. But we have faith and feel calm about it all. I will probably have to go to the surgeries alone because Dental School is insane and there is no missing of classes. Not for anything. If you think about it we would love prayers and can always use them. I will let you know how it all turns out.

My son Theron who is 4 now had to have one of his testicles brought down surgically when he was 1 year old. it never descended on it's own. I was really nervous about him being put to sleep too. He did have a hard time coming out of it but all was fine. It took probably 10 minutes and he was ok as we held him and talked to him. It will be ok. Their little bodies are so strong and amaze me at what they can handle. I'm glad they don't have anything too serious and you're able to get it taken care of. You're one tough cookie Lisa. Are you going to get help from the ward? That was one thing that helped me with Theron. As the word got around, there were sisters that called me who had had their kids have surgeries too. It was nice to know others had been through it and what I could expect when they come out of anesthesia. I'll be thinking of you and your little family! What's your email address. I can email you my phone # and call me if you have any questions!
Wow girl when it rains it pours huh? Hey if you want me to watch one of the boys when you have to go to your appts or surgeries let me know I wouldn't mind! Dental school is TOTALLY crazy and if John can't end up going with you I will go and sit with you!! Let me know if I can help in anyway!
poor little guys! I'm glad these problems aren't any more serious than they are. They just want to be healthy little boys, you know? For most poeple, health is something that is taken for granted until it is lost.
Hey girl
Everything will be alright...I'm glad you went into more detail...and just so you know there is an edited family picture cropped just for you...sorry I put the wrong one up there.!
love you
Wow! I can't believe all of that is going on in your life right now. We are thinking of you and praying for you!
Hey girl -- we'll totally be keeping your sweet family in our prayers. I'm sorry to hear about the boys' health problems ... it's good to know that you and Jon feel calm and peaceful about everything, though. Life gets pretty crazy, doesn't it? You guys are so great -- what sweet little boys! Well love ya tons -- we'll be praying for you! xoxo
Holy cow! I had no idea that your family has been going through so much! Poor kiddos! We will keep you in our prayers for sure.
We love you! It's gonna be okay. We'll be praying for all of you. Please keep us posted.
I hope everything goes well for you. I am glad too that these are not very serious and can be taken care of. You are a great mom.
Hey Lisa
We are sure it will all work out great. Aren't you glad for modern medicine that can help. Let me know if you need any help. You can also check out our blog. By the way I love the pics of the boys muddy in the backyard.
All three of my boys have been put under anesthesia for one thing or another and everything was fine! It is a little freaky when they are coming out of it because they are totally disoriented and my boys screamed for about 10-15 minutes. Just make sure you have their favorite blankies or something familiar. They will be fine....let me know if I can help! Also check out my blog
oh, i hope your boys get better!!!glad to see your fam is receiving so much support. hope your boys will feel comforted and you will too!
Lisa, I just saw your blog for the first time. What a crazy time this all must have been for you! A gal from mamasource has a great website, http://www.elanaspantry.com/, with great helps for those with celiac or those who want to have that type of diet, gluten-free. Check it out, maybe it'll give you some good ideas.
I hope your family's doing well now! Hopefully I'll see you again soon.
Love, Natalie Vickers
