A TRUE WOMAN OF GOD
I don’t want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails.
I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp.
I want to be there with grass stains on my shoes from mowing Sister Schenk’s lawn.
I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbor’s children.
I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone’s garden.
I want to be there with children’s sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder.
I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived.
(Desert Saints magazine, p. 8, May 2004, attributed to Marjorie Pay Hinckley)
I stole this quote from my friend's blog (sorry Emilee). I think I have heard this before, but my heart yearns to be this. I think I go from minute to minute between these two different women. I never want to loose this perspective. I love Sister Hinckley. She was am amazing woman. She probably didn't let he own projects and wishes and to-do lists come before her children. I hope I can really learn from this.

This is one of my all time favorite quotes!
Love this quote from a gentle and srong woman! So absolutely inspiring. Today in her honor I did craft time with Mackenzie instead of doing something else less important.
Lisa...have I sent you an invite to my blog since I went private? If not, it's only because I don't have an email address for you. send me an email to davencher2000 at yahoo . com and I will send you an invite.
